Stećci, monumental medieval tombstones

Stecci, the tombstones, often referred asstone sleepers, are one of the oldest witnesses of the B&H history.
Throughout the country you can come across a single stecak or collections of monoliths, often decorated with animals and ornaments. For example, some of the interesting stecci are to be found in Radimlja. It is located 3 km west of Stolac, along the Stolac – Čapljina road, in Vidovo polje. The Stećci have been nominated to the UNESCO Heritage List.

They are the country's most legendary symbol.
