Life in the karst areas of Herzegovina was difficult throughout history. One of the few crops that could grow was tobacco.

The state strictly controlled the production of tobacco. Production for your needs and the free-sale is strictly prohibited. However, people who practiced cultivation and production of tobacco, to feed their family, were forced to sell on the black market " škiju ", as people called Herzegovinian tobacco. Tobacco smuggling was lucrative, but also very dangerous job. To avoid ambush smugglers chose difficult viable paths and high mountain passes bearing the burden on his shoulders.

Therefore, this story of tobacco smugglers is reliving true adventure that exists only in legends.

Crossing the mountains for several days, the all-day hard walking. Tobacco smuggling, despite all the hardships along the way, took place regularly, regardless of the season and the weather conditions that prevailed in the mountains. During the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Kingdom of Yugoslavia ambushes were asking gendarmes, in SFR Yugoslavia, members of the People's Militia. Departure from Sarajevo at 7:00, the ride takes about 2 hours.

From Konjic with off-road vehicle, at the village Borci near Boračko Lake we go off from an asphalt road and mini offroad adventure begins. Entering the Crno polje we begin with our hike and the story about tobacco smugglers begins.

We walk on the paths where they walked, visit springs where they drank water and we get to know ways in which they marked their paths.

After five hours of easy walking we climb the highest peak of mountain Prenj, top Green Head (2155m.nv).

At the top we make a short lecture about the direction of movement of tobacco smugglers and we enjoy the view.
