Sarajevo War tunnel Our offers...
Sarajevo War tunnel
War tunnel was built under the airport in 1992 and was the only connection of Sarajevo to the rest of the world during four years of occupation.
Tourist, who visit the War tunnel museum today, simply can not believe that few hundred tousand people were depedning on a narrow path under the airport.
Preserved part of the tunnel, as well as the exhibits in the museum, keeps the memory on bravery of Sarajevo citizens and their struggle for survival. There is no doubt that the tunnel played one of the key roles in defending Bosnia and Herzegovina and its capital city, Sarajevo.
The tour begins with a short ride to the War Tunnel where during the car ride you will be introduced to the origins of the Balkans conflict, for gaining the better understanding of the Aggression of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Sarajevo Siege.
Normally, we see and go through the Tunnel itself, but only for 25 meters what was previously 800m. Why? You shall find out if you book a tour
At the end you will have the opportunity to see the Museum part of the Tunnel with interesting exhibits, materials and photos.
Sniper Alley and Jewish Cemetery
On the way back from the Tunnel we talk about the other sites of the Siege, and we visit theJewish Cemetery, which used to be one of the first lines of battle, and from which the greatest sniper danger to citizens of Sarajevo was coming from.
From this viewpoint we really see what the Sarajevo Sniper Alley really was.
After we are finished with Siege stories, we proceed to Goat's Bridge, one of rarely seen but historically the most interesting sites. The Bridge first time mentioned in 1550. The Bridge is almost the same as the Old Bridge in Mostar, but perhaps once even more significant.
Before we reach the Bridge we shall discuss a bit about the Latin Bridge and the Assassination of Franz Ferdinand, about the first mosque in Sarajevo - Imperial Mosque, a few word about the City Hall and many many other sites.
With us, surely, you will not miss it.
Yellow Bastion and White Bastion
After we have learnt the most important things about Ottoman Empire and have seen the Bridge, we move again to higher altitude to see the Yellow and White Bastion. Two bastions built pretty far away in the stormy history of this great city.
This tour takes place twice a day and is scheduled for 9:00 AM and 13:00 PM. Tour duration: 4 hours
